Strung Together – A March for Strings (Grade 3)
Scored for string ensemble with parts for 1st, 2nd and 3rd violins, viola, cello and bass.
Much of the material for this work is constructed around scalic figures. The interval of a fifth is also given prominence. Firstly, in its separated character and secondly, as a 'noble' and more expansive theme from letter D. A brief reference to the second theme is heard in a sequential idea in the closing section of the piece.
